  1. 9. Phan decided to help the enemy soldier who attacked him because he seen his intestines spilling out of his belly and steaming, which made Kien horrified and at the same time feel deep pity for him.

  2. 6. I feel that the author of this quote is saying that death is just an extension of life; a life that is calmer and more peaceful.

  3. Maybe the author means that there's no terrible way to die. I believe the author's point is that death is death, no matter how tragic nor how graceful.

  6. 7.) Kien believe that the dead soldiers were more significant than the living soldiers because they would sometimes die and no one would know who they are or where they come from. Their voices didn't get the opportunities to be heard, so Kien feels as if they are more worthy of attention. They are also just as important as everyone else.
